These are the pictures of the tour to the Mayan ruins named Lamanai or submerged aligator. We took an open jet boat with 20 tourist and 2 guides. We traveled across 30 miles of open sea to a narrow jungle river. To picture this river in your mind think of Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn in the movie African Queen. We were on this river for an hour when we arrived at a village of about 50 people and on to a school bus that was old enough to take Beaver and Wally to school in. We stayed on this bus going from one river deeper into the main land on the old Panamerican Highway that runs from Alaska to Chile for an hour and a half. Then we got on another open jet boat and up another river for an hour or so at 50 miles an hour on this narrow jungle river. Once we were finished with this tour we had to go back the way we came.

Everything went well. We had a wonderful trip. Saw a number of Mayan ruins (after you have seen 2 you have seen them all and they wanted to show us 7). We were feed a great home made lunch. And then the drinkers in the bunch buckeled down for some old fashioned "get me drunk as fast as you can" drinking. the rest of the story is a great one if you want to know ask Cheryl.
